Click, Clack, Dominoes!

Who doesn’t love a riveting round of dominoes, whether it’s this free Dominoes Deluxe game or a friendly tournament at the park? Nothing passes an afternoon quite like a few games of tile-sliding, number-matching fun. The great thing about online dominoes is that you can really customize your experience. You can play how you want to play, whenever and wherever you want, and with how many people you want. If you’re just in it for a casual way to kill time, no worry. If you’re a pro, you’ll find plenty of ways to layer on the difficulty. What’s that, you’ve never learned how to play dominoes before? Oh, well never fear, it’s pretty simple. Let’s take a quick look at the rules for classic, all-five and block styles.

How to Play Dominoes Deluxe

Alright, let’s start with classic dominoes. The rules are quite simple. Each player starts with five dominoes, and each domino has two numbers on it from 1-6 (or a blank space). The player with the highest double, a tile that has the same number on it twice, will start the game by placing this domino in the center of the game board. Then, each player will take turns creating “trains,” or lines of dominoes by laying pieces down that match the end of each train (4 to a 4, 5 to a 5, etc.) Whoever runs out of dominoes first wins the round. Your score is tallied up by counting how many dots the opposing player has with their remaining dominoes. So, that’s classic. In all-fives, you still create trains the same way, but at the end of each turn, you count the dots on each “end” of each train. If the total is a multiple of 5 (like 5, 10, 15, 20, etc.), then you score that many points. Finally, block mode is just like classic, except when you don’t have a matching domino to play, you don’t get to draw for more – you just lose your turn.

Head-to-Head or Around the Table

Now that you know how to play all three versions of this free online game, we have a question for you. Do you prefer to battle someone head-on, or do you like to jump into a 3- or 4-way war? You’ll never run out of “people” to play in this game, because you can choose the number of opponents you’re up against. This really helps to build your skills, because it takes different techniques to win when there are three or four people playing.

Are You A Casual Clacker or a Big-Time Pro?

Ready for even more customization? That’s right, you’ve got three game modes and the option to choose your number of opponents, but there’s more. You can head over to our board games category and play dozens of similar titles for free. If you really want to test your online domino skills, you can switch the CPU to hard mode and see how you do. Just don’t expect any hand-holding, because this will make it much tougher! Of course, there’s nothing wrong with setting it to normal and playing the day away. Enough talking, let’s get to clacking in Dominoes Deluxe!
