Oh, Pinball, How We Love You

Just think about it for a second. More than 85 years ago (1934), the game of pinball as we know it today was first introduced to the world. All of these years later, not only is it still around, but it’s more popular than ever! Of course, nowadays, we have free versions of the classic game available to play online, and boy have we had fun picking our favorites. Pinball for computer allows you to do things that you can’t do in real life, like play while you’re at work, for example. Also, you can access all of our classic pinball games for free! No matter how many new and fancy pc pinball games pop up, the premise will never change: keep the ball on the board and rack up points!

Want to Become a Pro? Learn Your Machine!

Sure, that little tip we just mentioned is great for making the game last a little longer, but if you want to put up a high score that will make the leaderboard shudder in fear, then you’ll need to learn a thing or two. Most importantly, pinball computer games experts know their hardware. Well, it’s virtual hardware, but you get the point. If you can expertly use each piece of the machine, then you’ll have a much greater chance of shattering that old record! Even the newer and fancier pinball machine games follow the same physics as the original pinball, so learning pinball machine games mechanics is practically the same in real life as it is in the game. Ready to check the equipment? Let’s take a look.

The Almighty Plunger

Without the plunger, there is no pinball. Whether it’s old pc pinball games or one of the best free pinball games of this year, they both need a plunger. Now, you may be thinking, “Why does it matter that I learn about the plunger? Don’t you just press it and launch the ball into play?” Yes, but that’s not all that it does. In many versions of free pinball games online, if you press the plunger just right, you can get the ball to roll into a secret compartment that feeds it directly to the flippers. Or, if you press it much harder, you can access areas that give you bonus points before the ball even comes back down!

Frantic Flippers

In both electronic pinball unblocked games and classic versions of the game, the flippers are the most fun to use, and they’re super important if you want that ball to stay on the board. The classic setup involves two flippers, a left and a right, that you use to push the ball back up towards the top of the board when it comes down. In some pinball flash games and other pc versions, there is a third flipper higher up on the board (near the bumpers). We recommend testing these out before you even touch the plunger. How far does each flipper reach? How big is the gap between them? How quickly do they respond to you pressing the button?

Score-Boosting Bumpers

Even after learning to flip with the best of them, you still need to appreciate what’s going on at the top of the board with pinball shooting games. You know those circular pegs that push the ball away when it touches them? Those are called bumpers, and they can earn you a whole lot of points. You may think that what happens up there is beyond your control, but that’s not the case at all. Find the perfect spot to aim for so that the ball shoots up to the bumpers and gets pinged around for a long time. This is part one of how high scores are built in no-download pc pinball games! How else do people rack up points in this online arcade classic? Read on.

Ramps and Special Pieces

Plungers, flippers and bumpers are universal, but all pinball games online, free or not, have their own special features. Usually, there’s a ramp that leads to a special area, where the ball can unlock a multi-ball bonus or just a set number of bonus points. Sometimes, you can even earn an extra ball if you know how to get to these special areas! Just like aiming for the bumpers, it will take plenty of practice for you to get that ball up the ramp for the bonus. Just keep trying, and you’ll eventually get the hang of it!

“Tilt” Is a Dirty Word

When pinball first started hitting the scene in the 30s and 40s, some players would try to lift the machine in an attempt to score more points. The makers of pinball games quickly realized this, so they added the “tilt” function, which prevented the players from doing this. In some of the more realistic pc pinball games, you can “bump” the board a little bit if the ball gets stuck, but be careful! Too many, and you just may find yourself at zero points. Can’t say we didn’t warn you.
